Greater Napanee Budget Update - New Investments Made in Parks and Recreation Amenities

The Town will be building in-town trails and reconditioning a soccer field in 2026. New investments, approved as part of Budget 2026, include a number of parks and recreation initiatives, including:
  • The revitalization of the Alcorn-Francis Memorial Soccer Field, funded through non-taxation revenue, including reserves, community benefit funds, and savings legally dedicated to parkland.
  • Construction of in‑town trails, guided by recommendations from the Ad Hoc Committee on Trails and funded through development charges, is scheduled to begin in Fall 2026.
  • The continued remediation of the flooring at the Best & Bash Arena.
Under Mayor Richardson's budget directive, these new investments are being funded through non-taxation revenue, including parkland dedication funds, development charges, general reserves, and contributions from provincial grant funding.

“Recreation is a huge part of our community and I’m extremely happy to see that we were able to prioritize a number of initiatives without impacting the tax levy,” said Mayor Richardson. “These investments in our parks and recreation will benefit our community for many years to come.”
