Canada Day Celebration Details

Activities will be happening throughout the day at the Best & Bash Arena (16 McPherson Dr) from 7:00 am until 9:50 pm!

• 7:00am - 10:00am - Firefighters pancake breakfast ($)
• 9:00am - 3:00pm - Napanee Valley Cruisers Show N' Shine Car Show
• 6:00pm - 8:00pm - Pony rides by The Party Ponies ($)
• 6:00pm - 8:00pm - Face painting by First Impressions By Danielle
• 6:00pm - 8:00pm - Balloon art by Just Jess
• 5:00pm - 9:00pm - Family yard games
• 5:00pm - 9:00pm - Activities provided by the Greater Napanee Soccer Club
• 7:00pm - 10:00pm - Music by Diamond Productions
• 8:00pm - Free popcorn, cotton candy, and cookies until the fireworks begin or while supplies last
• 9:50 pm - Fireworks

Big D's Canteen will be open in the afternoon and evening. Items with a dollar sign will require a fee to participate.

This event is funded (in part) by the Government of Canada.

How to Particiapte: Residents are encouraged to take part in a community clean up in honour of Earth Day! Bags for the clean up will be available during business hours at the Best & Bash Arena (while supplies last).

Participants are required to complete a registration form to indicate the location where the collected bags of waste will be left.

Materials collected must be placed in the bags provided by the Town or in clear garbage bags and left at the location specified in the registration form by 7:00 am on April 27. Staff may not reach all areas on that day; however, bags will be collected throughout the week.

What is Giveaway Day: Giveaway Day is a great opportunity to de-clutter and find a new home for any unwanted items while also picking up something you may want or need for free! Keep gently used items out of the landfills by allowing others to re-use or up-cycle them.

Here's what you need to know to participate in Giveaway Day: 

• Items are to be placed curbside by 7:00 am.
• Unclaimed items must be removed by 7:00pm on the same day and remain the residents responsibility. 
• Clearly label your items as free. Ensure any items that you do not want taken are kept away from the curb.
• Greater Napanee will NOT be collecting unclaimed items.
• Respect other people's property - do not walk on people's lawns or gardens.
• Take only items that are marked "FREE" and placed at the curb.
• Do not leave previously picked-up items on the curb at other people's property.

Appropriate Items: Gently used items that can be included in Giveaway Day are books, CD's, DVD's, furniture, small appliances, kitchen gadgets, dishes, cutlery, pots and pans, sporting goods, outdoor items, electronics, construction/renovation materials, tools, etc.

Items that should not be given away or picked up: Baby walkers, cribs, car seats, strollers, playpens, bath seats, mattresses, blinds, and toys. 

When: November 29, 2025, from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

When/Where?

The 2026 Household Hazardous Waste Day event is taking place on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 8:00 am until 2:00 pm at GFL Environmental (444 Advance Ave).

Residents must be prepared to show proof of residency. 

What is Accepted? 

• Paints (flammable and toxic). Do not mix latex with oils base paints
• Automotive batteries (corrosive and toxic). Wear rubber gloves when handling
• Household batteries, disposable and rechargeable (corrosive and toxic)
• Household medicines/old prescriptions (toxic) in a separate bag
• Waste Oil (flammable and toxic). Clearly mark the container
• Pesticides, insecticides, herbicides (toxic)
• Pool chemicals and bleach (reactive and toxic) Do not mix and keep separate from each other and from other chemicals
• Turpentine, furniture and paint stripper, varsol, solvents, gasoline, linseed oil, nail polish and nail polish remover, BBQ lighter fluid (flammable and toxic)
• Wood preservative, wood stains, anti-freeze, glues, window cleaners, disinfectants, rat and mouse poisons (toxic)
• Oven cleaners, drain cleaners (corrosive)
• Old propane tanks (explosive)
• Aerosol containers (explosive, toxic and flammable) Empty containers as well 
• Sharps including needles, syringes and lancets
• All lamp types: CFL, fluorescent, incandescent, halogen, HID, UV, germicidal, and LED bulbs and tubes

What is Not Accepted? 

• Explosives
• Fire works
• Ammunition
• Biological wastes
• PCB wastes or light ballasts
• Helium or freon tanks
• Old computers, printers or monitors
• No commercial waste

How to Deliver Your Hazardous Waste 

• For your own protection, deliver the hazardous waste material labeled in the trunk of your car. If you are using a truck or a trailer to dispose of your hazardous waste, please ensure that your load is safe and secure
• Do not mix materials
• All materials must be clearly marked
• If the container is damaged, package the container in the plastic bag in order not to spill it during the journey to the collection site
• Wash your hands thoroughly after handling the chemicals 

The annual event allows for the proper disposal of items such as:

• Paints
• Solvents
• Batteries
• Old prescriptions and medicines
• Waste oil
• Pesticides, Insecticides, and Herbicides
• Cleaners and disinfectants
• Propane tanks and aerosols.

Products collected during the household hazardous waste event are categorized and sorted to either be reused, recycled or packed for safe, proper disposal. Depending on the types and physical state of the hazardous waste, treatment and/or solidification processes may take place.

When: November 28th from 5:00 pm - 7: 00 pm

Where: Conservation Park (10 Pearl Street)

Come join us as we light up the park! This event will feature fireworks, a fire show from NorthFire Circus, light wands for attendees, and cookies!

Our Movie in the Park Series is back for another year! The Town will be providing popcorn for each movie. Chocolate milk will also be available at each movie thanks to the L&A Dairy Producers.

Where: Best & Bash Arena (16 McPherson Dr.)

Time: Event begins at 9:00 am, while supplies last.

Cost: This event is free. All you need to do is bring a pail to collect your seedlings. 

How to store seedlings:

• Keep the roots cool, dark, and moist
• Plant the seedlings as soon as possible
