Candidate Profile

My name is Jeff Chestnut. I am a nominee in the January by-election to represent Ward 3 for The Town of Greater Napanee.

I grew up on a dairy farm, attended Lakehead University, then went on to do the Carpenters Red Seal Certification at Georgian College in Owen Sound. My wife of over thirty years and I chose The Town of Greater Napanee as our home in 2003, where we bought our first house, and raised our son.

My work in our community includes:

• The Market Square Committee member: participated with Councillor Dave Pinnell and fellow members in advising the Council on Town Hall renovations, based on community feedback

• Volunteer broadcaster at Amherst Island Radio CJAI 101.3 fm, as Q The vORTEX on Fridays: promoted many Napanee acts that are starting out,  also promoted and assisted the Charity Radio Bingo.

• Current proud member of The Napanee Legion

• Napanee Writers Forum member: a partner in organizing the upcoming Napanee Literacy and Art Festival

• Chair of The Waste Diversion Committee: worked with Councillor Bill Martin and members to organize the transition from The Municipal Recycling to the Provincial Circular Recycling program

Candidate Profile

I was born and raised in Greater Napanee—Selby and Roblin more specifically—it’s where I am now proudly raising my own family, have made lifelong friends and where I’ve grown a business. This community has helped to shape who I am and given me decades of memories I’ll always value.

We’ve seen many changes over the years watching the Town grow and I wish to see that growth continue in the areas needed most. I believe that Greater Napanee is a unique place which has plenty to offer and with the proper direction can continue to exhibit that.

While new to elected office, I’m not new to solving problems. My approach is simple: start with a clear mind, gather all the facts, listen with respect to all parties involved and work toward solutions that put our community first, knowing that honest differences of opinion often lead to stronger relationships and a renewed lens to view through in the future.

With your support, I’d be honoured to bring that same steady, common-sense approach to Council and help guide Napanee’s continued growth in the areas that matter most to all of us.

Candidate Profile

Robert is a lifelong resident of Ward 3 and the owner and operator of Dowling House, one of the region's oldest historic inns. He lives here with his partner and extended family, raising his daughter in the same rural landscape that has shaped generations before him.

Robert is running for Council because he believes Greater Napanee is at a moment where financial repair and careful planning matter. Infrastructure is

aging, service demands are growing, and the way the town manages its assets, growth, and investments will determine whether residents see improvement or continued strain.

His approach is grounded in fiscal responsibility and stewardship of land and rivers. He believes growth must pay for growth, municipal assets should be used strategically, and long-term investments should reduce pressure on property taxes while strengthening core services such as roads, water, recreation, and community facilities.

Rural life and farming are not symbols, but resilient systems and the cornerstone of the town’s future. Protecting productive farmland, maintaining rural infrastructure, and planning growth carefully are essential to keeping the municipality strong and adaptable.

Robert brings professional experience in business operations and budgeting. On Council, he will focus on disciplined spending, transparent decisions, and strategic investment for residents.
