Development Charges

The Development Charges Act allows municipalities like Greater Napanee to impose Development Charges on new development to offset the added cost of expanded services required by a growing community. Information on Development Charges can be found below:

The Town has undertaken an update to the 2022 Development Charges Background Study. This update represents a targeted amendment to the Town’s current D.C. framework (By-law 2022-0059), focusing primarily on growth studies, water services, and wastewater services, as well as ensuring alignment with recent Provincial legislative changes.

Development Charges Background Study Update

The way of life and natural surroundings gives the our Town many advantages which are drawing people from all aspects of life; from families who want to escape city life to those looking to ease into retirement. As a result, a variety of developments are being created, which include multi-unit housing through to custom homes to help answer the growing demand. Also, a variety of sub-divisions are being developed within our urban area, each unique in its own setting.
