Upcoming Changes to Utilities Billing - Effective January 2026

The Town has completed a transition of its utility billing software services to streamline the number of payment systems it operates. As part of this transition, additional digits have been added to each utility user’s account number.

Here's what utility users need to know:

Do you need to re-register?
  • No - all account information and transaction balances will be carried over as part of the system transfer.
  • If you notice any differences on your next bill in terms of naming conventions, please reach out to the Town at 613-354-3351 or by email at info@greaternapanee.com and staff will correct the issue.
How will EFT and financial institution payments be affected?
  • Due to the account number structure changing, additional digits will be added to account numbers.
  • The previous 6 digit number will now be 12 digits (e.g. 001597, will change to 000 001597 000).
  • If the account number is not adjusted, an error should be received from financial institutions.
How will in-person payments be affected?
  • There are no changes to this process.
  • Staff will be happy to accept payment at 99 Advance Avenue, via Debit, Cash, or Cheque
How will pre-authorized payment plans be affected?
  • There are no changes to this process. Account information has been transferred.
  • Payment withdrawals will still take place on the instalment date.
Will the bill look different?
  • Yes - the first billing in January will have a different appearance than previous bills.
  • The bill will still contain the following information:
    • Consumption data
    • Breakdown of charges
    • Previous balance
    • Current amount due
    • Account information
