Total Burn Ban Continued

August 21, 2025

Greater Napanee - In response to prolonged dry conditions, the Greater Napanee Fire Department (GNFD) is
putting a total, Town-wide burn ban in place that will be strictly enforced.

The Total Burn Ban, imposed on Monday August 11, remains in effect and applies to campfires, brush burning, and all other forms of outdoor fire activity.

“Conditions across Canada have led to significant vulnerability to fire that could result in injury and property loss, and Greater Napanee is no exception,” said GNFD Chief Shawn Armstrong. “We urge all residents to adhere to this ban to prevent wildfires and reduce pressure on emergency services.”

In line with the ban, members of the GNFD and By-law Services will be proactively monitoring compliance with this order.

Those who do not comply with the burn ban may receive fines of up to $500 per offence.
