Public Notice: Proposed New Patio By-law

Council will consider a new by-law to replace the current Patio By-law 04-38 at the January 27, 2026, regular meeting. The meeting will be held in person at 124 John Street at 7:00 p.m. and will be livestreamed on the Town’s YouTube channel.

The proposed new by-law will update language throughout the by-law, implement an updated and clearer application and approval process, include language to reflect AODA and AGCO requirements, update the required fees for private and sidewalk patios, include the requirement for licensees to sign an agreement with the Town (for sidewalk patios), require Temporary Occupancy Permits to be obtained, and change the approval authority from Council to staff. A staff report on the proposed changes was presented to the October 28, 2025, meeting of Council and is available online at https://greaternapanee.civicweb.net/portal/.

Any person wishing to receive more information, provide comments on the proposed by-law, or to register as a deputation may contact Shannon Murphy, Deputy Clerk, at 613-776-1122 or smurphy@greaternapanee.com. All comments submitted by noon on Tuesday, January 20 will be included in the Council agenda. Additional comments may be submitted up until noon on January 27 and be published as a late addition to the agenda.
