News Release - Greater Napanee Fire Department Responds to Hazardous Materials Incident

(GREATER NAPANEE, ON) – The Greater Napanee Fire Department responded to a fire alarm call
on Kimmetts Side Road earlier today that was later upgraded to a hazardous materials (HazMat)
incident.

An evacuation perimeter was established as a precaution to protect public safety. The affected area
includes Kimmetts Side Road and portions of Vanluven Road and Frisk Road. Municipal Public
Works crews have implemented road closures, and members of the public are asked to avoid the
area while emergency operations remain underway.

As a result of the evacuation, approximately 30 to 40 residents have been temporarily displaced.
Temporary shelter and support services have been established at the Best & Bash Arena to
accommodate those affected. Some local businesses within the evacuation area have also been
impacted.

The Greater Napanee Fire Department is working in coordination with allied emergency service
partners, including the Ontario Provincial Police, Paramedic Services, and Kingston Fire & Rescue, to
manage and resolve the incident.

There is no immediate risk to public safety beyond the established evacuation area. Emergency
crews continue to monitor the situation, and updates will be provided as more information becomes
available.

Further updates and instructions will be shared through the Town of Greater Napanee’s Facebook
page, website, and service update notifications distributed through the Town’s newsletter platform.
