Fire Department Training Session

The Greater Napanee Fire Department will be conducting a training session on Wednesday, July 16th, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

During the session, emergency vehicles will be traveling along County Road 8 from the North Fredericksburgh Hall to Southview Public School, utilizing emergency lights and sirens as part of a water shuttle accreditation training.

This accreditation is essential in ensuring that the department can deliver a reliable water supply in rural areas during emergencies. The training is timed and requires firefighters to establish and maintain water flow within specific parameters.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to maintain this critical service for our community.

Parks By-law and Encampment Protocol Survey

Greater Napanee Council will be reviewing the Parks By-law and Encampment Protocol at the end of the summer and is looking for community input on how the Town’s implementation of this by-law can be improved.

Residents can share their input by completing the Town's survey on Let's Talk Greater Napanee. The survey will be open for feedback until August 6, 2025.

2026 Municipal Election Survey

The next Municipal Election is set for Monday, October 26, 2026. Since 2014, we've used the following electronic voting methods to make casting ballots easier for residents:

  • Voting by telephone
  • Voting in person at an assisted polling station

Media Release - Town to Launch Community Initiatives Fund in Fall 2025

(GREATER NAPANEE, ON) – The Town of Greater Napanee will launch its Community Initiatives Fund (CIF) in September 2025.

The new fund replaces the Atura Power Community Development Fund, which will continue to accept applications until August 25. The new fund will provide up to $15,000 per year for projects and events that benefit the community and are supported through community benefit contributions from Atura Power.

The CIF will increase in the coming years as more power-related infrastructure projects are completed. The remaining funds, formerly directed to the Atura Power Community Development Fund, approximately $75,000, will be directed to municipal projects that benefit the entire community, as well as a reserve that extends the life of available funding.

“In these challenging economic times, Town Council believes it is important to find ways to continue to invest in community infrastructure without solely relying on taxpayers,” said Mayor Terry Richardson. “We believe this change will allow us to continue to provide opportunities for community groups to apply for funding while ensuring broader community projects can proceed in a timely manner.”

The Community Initiatives Fund will have two intake periods a year, Fall and Spring, and will begin accepting applications in September of 2025. A new advisory committee will review applications and make funding recommendations to Town Council.

All projects will need to serve the needs of the Greater Napanee community and adhere to funding requirements in line with Atura Power’s community benefit criteria, including:

  • Community safety and security
  • Health and well-being
  • Environment and sustainability
  • Recreation
  • Housing
  • Arts, culture, and heritage

The Town will operate the Community Initiatives Fund in compliance with its Community Initiatives Fund Policy.
