Greater Napanee Budget Update - 2026 Budget Invests in New Vehicles and Equipment to Support Core Services

As part of the 2026 Budget, investments are being made in vehicles and equipment to ensure the Town can continue to provide its core services to residents. 

“Having updated equipment and vehicles is essential when providing services to our community,” said Mayor Richardson. “These purchases will help ensure we are replacing items that are at the end of useful life which helps our staff avoid disruptions caused by aging equipment and vehicles.”

The following equipment and vehicles will be purchased to aid our Public Works, Cemeteries, and By-Law Enforcement staff:

Piece of Equipment Cost  Funding Source  Intended Use
Dump Trailer 20,000.00 Levy Will be used for the hauling of material and equipment through the municipality. Trailer to reside with Cemeteries but will be shared throughout the organization.
By-law Vehicle 70,000.00 Development Charges - Identified within the DC background Study Will be for day-to-day use. With the increase of staff in 2025, an additional vehicle was required for the deployment of staff.
Tandem Axel - Plow Truck 480,000.00 Fleet Reserve  Will be for day-to-day use within Public Works. Truck will be used during the winter for plowing, salting and sanding, and for various operations in the summer.
Excavator 430,000.00 Levy - Financed through an intended 4 year term Will be for day-to-day use for Public Works operations.
Loader(s) 460,000.00 Levy Staff are exploring used options for Front-end loaders, if staff feel there is viable used options, they will be presented to Council in attempt to acquire two used loaders. These are used daily in operations for Public Works as well as to assist operations in other departments.
