Public Notice: Sanitary Sewer Flushing and Inspections
The Town of Greater Napanee has contracted M. Cudd Infrastructure Inc. to conduct sanitary sewer flushing and inspection work between January 5-9, 2026.
What can I expect during the flushing and inspections:
Most residents will not be affected by the flushing and there should not be any disruption in service. Sanitary sewer flushing may result in odours, noise, splashing, and occasional small spills. This is a result of the flushing process which uses a high-pressure water jet to scour the pipe. This can result in water or air being pushed in or pulled out of your plumbing and traps including toilets, showers, sinks, and floor drains.
How can I prevent any potential issues:
- Keep your toilet lids closed as a precaution.
- Pour a minimum of 2L of water into infrequently used plumbing fixtures to ensure the traps are full before and after flushing takes place.
Why are sanitary sewer flushing and inspections important:
Flushing the sanitary sewer system is important preventative maintenance. The flushing removes any debris or build-up in the sanitary sewer. This prevents potential blockages that can cause sewer back-ups in houses. The camera inspections allow staff to assess the condition of the pipe and address areas of concern before they become an issue.
Where do I direct any questions or concerns:
For questions or concerns, please contact the Town of Greater Napanee Utilities Department at
