Public Notice - Consideration of Sale of Surplus Property

Concession 1, Part Lot 19, former Township of Richmond (vacant lot adjacent to the JJ O’Neill Catholic School and behind Simcoe Street)

Notice was previously issued following the Council meeting on July 12, 2022, that Council had declared the above property as surplus with the intention to sell it. The Town has received an offer from the Algonquin Lakeshore Catholic District School Board (ALCDSB) to purchase the land for the purpose of expanded parking in order to assist with improved traffic flows and safety with the school expansion project. A copy of the proposed site plan should the lot be sold to the school board is attached for reference, and a presentation regarding the proposal details was also made to Council at the April 25, 2023 meeting.

The matter was considered again by Council at the January 30, 2024 meeting. A copy of the staff report regarding the proposed sale is available on the January 30 agenda at www.greaternapanee.civicweb.net. At that meeting, Council moved to defer a decision to the February 27, 2024, meeting of Council in order to allow for additional time for public comments.

If you would like to present written comments to Council on this matter, or register to speak as a deputation at the February 27 meeting, you may contact the Clerk by email at jwalters@greaternapanee.com, in person at 99 Advance Avenue, or complete an online deputation request form. All comments submitted to the Clerk by noon on Tuesday, February 20 will be included in the Council agenda. Additional comments may be submitted up until noon on February 27 and published as a late addition to the agenda.

Please note that seating capacity at Town Hall is limited to 25 people, and that where five or more deputations are registered on the same topic, Council may limit the speaking time to two (2) minutes per person in order to allow for sufficient time to address all Town business. If we receive an early indication that the time and space allocated for this discussion is not sufficient, an alternative meeting date and venue may need to be considered, but this option is not guaranteed.
