Media Release: Town to Explore Affordable Fleet Purchasing Strategy

December 12, 2025

(GREATER NAPANEE) - In an effort to promote affordability, Greater Napanee will prioritize used vehicle and equipment options when making fleet replacement decisions.

The move to source used vehicles and equipment aims to meet Council’s expectation that the Town prioritize affordability and value for dollar.

As part of Budget 2026, Town staff will make recommendations that:

  • Focus on replacing vehicles with high maintenance costs
  • Pursue the purchase of used vehicles over new vehicles, where possible
  • Update Town processes to ensure that the principles of competitive procurement are applied when purchasing used equipment
  • Make use of financing options, where possible, to reduce the immediate burden on taxpayers

The Town will aim to purchase equipment within its $1.2 million capital budget window.

The Town’s most recent fleet condition assessment, as well as equipment likely to be recommended in the 2026 budget, can be found on the Town’s website.
