COVID-19 Safety Guidelines |
The safety of everyone is our number one priority at this time. Below are the safety procedures and guidelines put in place for this year's Market.
COVID-19 Vendor Safety Guidelines |
All participating vendors must adhere to the following guidelines*: *Subject to change.
- Practice frequent hand washing throughout the day, as recommended by KFL&A Public Health. Use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol in addition to regular washing.
- It is recommended that gloves are worn and changed regularly when handling products.
- Rules regarding the usage of cloth face coverings will be dictated by KFL&A Public Health. Staff will stay up-to-date on regulations and inform vendors appropriately.
- Configure booths to limit the number of customers at a time and follow the 6ft. physical distancing recommendations.
- If you have a single booth space (approximately 10’x10’), you may staff it with one employee. However, the employee is responsible for hand sanitizing after each transaction.
- Vendors with two or more booth spaces are required to have at least two employees working at all times. One employee must be designated to handle payments and the other employee to handle products.
- No fabric tablecloths are permitted. All displays must be non-porous and properly sanitized.
- It is recommended that shared surfaces are sanitized every 30 minutes (example: tables) and frequently handled items after each use.
- All vendors must have hand sanitization products in their booth and wash frequently.
- Limit customer contact with products. Post signs reminding customers not to touch anything they aren’t buying.
- No sampling of any kind.
- When possible, accept contactless payments by being prepared with a system for taking credit/debit/e-transfer payments.
- If you feel sick, stay home. If you appear ill, you will be required to leave immediately.
Category Specific Recommendations:
Produce and Agriculture:
- Come with pre-packaged, weighed and clearly priced bulk items ahead of time. Round to the nearest dollar.
- Alternately, have a table displaying an assortment of products out as “display items only” showing customers what is available and limit cross contamination. Have all produce behind the display tables and package product for customers once their order is complete and paid for.
- Use ample signage to tell customers what products are available. Whiteboards or chalkboards are great tools and can be updated with inventory.
Prepared Food and Bakery Items:
- Individually price items or have a price list posted for customers.
- Items must be pre-packaged and labeled.

COVID-19 Safety Guidelines for all Guests & Customers |
Guests and customers attending the Greater Napanee Hometown Market must adhere to the following guidelines in order to ensure the healthy and safety of all those involved*: *Subject to change.
- Anyone feeling sick in any way, or who has been exposed to someone who is sick, should stay home and is not permitted to attend the Hometown Market.
- For safety purposes, attendees will be asked to complete a quick screening checklist with Market staff upon arrival. Information collected will be kept confidential and will only be used for health and safety purposes if a suspected incident of contamination occurs.
- Keep at least 6ft of distance between other shoppers and vendors at all times.
- Rules regarding the usage of cloth face coverings will be dictated by KFL&A Public Health. Staff will stay up-to-date on regulations and inform shoppers appropriately.
- Practice good hygiene: avoid touching nose, eyes and mouth. Please cough or sneeze into a tissue, dispose of right away, and sanitize your hands thoroughly.
- We encourage all high-risk customers to, when possible, please send someone to the Market in your place.
- Although hand sanitizer will be available throughout the Market area, we strongly encourage all visitors to bring their own hand sanitizer to promote personal safety.
- Avoid excess crowding by leaving the Market once you’ve finished your shopping.
- When possible, send only one member of your household to the Market.
- The Market will be set-up with 10 ft. of space between each vendor booth. These are not walkways, but distancing measures.
- Please shop with your eyes, not your hands. If you can avoid picking up and touching product, please do so.
- No public washrooms will be available.
|
Logistical Regulations |
To ensure the health and safety off all vendors, guests, shoppers, staff and volunteers, the following logistical regulations will be implemented*: *Subject to change.
- A staff member will be stationed at the entrance to conduct a verbal screening and encourage hand sanitization of customers before they enter.
- Physical distancing markers will be drawn on the grass as well as directional arrows for navigating the flow of guests.
- Market boundaries will be roped off to prevent shoppers from entering non-designated access points.
- Vendor stalls will be spaced 10 ft apart.
- Public will not be permitted to walk between stalls.
- Ample signage detailing proper hygiene and safety measures will be displayed throughout the area.
- Two hand sanitization stations will be installed within the Market area.

2021 Hometown Market held at the Strathcona Paper Centre
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, we've made the decision to begin the 2021 Hometown Market season with a restricted maximum of 12 vendors, with a priority given to local food producers. Family activities and additional programs that have been traditionally held at past Hometown Markets have been postponed. The modified approach to this year’s Market will protect the health and safety of anyone attending the Market.
