Public Notice: 2021 Proposed Increase to Water and Wastewater Rates
The Council of the Town of Greater Napanee intends to consider a by-law to approve the 2021 Utilities Operating and Capital Budget at a meeting to be held on January 12, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at the Selby Community Hall, 114 Pleasant Drive, Selby.
This proposed 2021 Utilities Budget includes an increase of 2.0% to municipal water and wastewater rates for 2021. This increase will result in a bi-monthly financial impact to the average (26.4m?) customer of $4.23.
The proposed 2021 Utilities Budget will remain debt free and will continue to provide adequate financial resources to undertake substantial capital work. User rate increases have remained consistently modest, averaging just under 2% over the last 5 years.
Healthy reserve balances, which have reached an all time high, will help fund large scale capital projects (such as the Water Pollution Control Plant) and will decrease the burden of future long-term debt.
The complete budget presentation can be found on the Town’s website at www.greaternapanee.com under the Agenda for the December 8, 2020 Special Meeting of Council.
