Public Notice: Town of Greater Napanee Waste Disposal Services (Curbside Collection, Waste Sites and Spring Leaf, Brush and Yard Clean-up) Update

Please be advised of the following updates for the Town’s waste disposal services during the COVID-19 State of Emergency.

 

Curbside Collection Information:

  • A limit of up to 3 bags per residential property or up to 5 bags per commercial property may be placed at the curb for weekly collection.
  • There continues to be no requirement for bag tags at this time.
  • No large items will be collected at the curb.
  • No hazardous waste can be disposed of at the curb.

 

Curbside Do’s & Don’ts:

  • All garbage must be in a bag.
  • The weight limit of 18 kg (40 lbs.) per bag remains in effect.
  • Only set out what garbage absolutely needs to be disposed of and recycle all acceptable items possible. Do not place recyclable items in the garbage.
  • As per the Town’s Waste Management By-law, do not set waste out to the curb before 6:00 pm on the day before your designated collection day and no later than 7:00 am on your designated collection day.
  • If waste becomes unsecured while at the curbside, the occupant or owner shall immediately clean it up and re-secure it.
  • To keep bags from being weighed down or rotting due to rain, please keep bags of garbage or yard waste in a dry, sheltered location until your collection day.
  • Place wipes in the garbage (i.e. wipes are not to be flushed or recycled). Throw all gloves in the garbage (i.e. do not recycle gloves).
  • Do not place recyclable items in the garbage.
  • Do not flush down the toilet or recycle used tissues, paper towel or wipes. Place these items in the garbage.

 

Waste Disposal Sites Information:

The Town’s Roblin and South Fredericksburgh Waste Disposal Sites will re-open beginning on Saturday, April 18, 2020 with precautionary measures in place to protect both residents and waste site attendants from the spread of COVID-19. To avoid non-essential travel, please attend the Waste Disposal Sites only if it is necessary.

 

Please be aware that the following guidelines and precautions will apply at the Waste Disposal Sites:

  • Regular hours of operation for both sites will be Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Waste site attendants shall maintain a social distance of at least 2 metres (6 feet) from residents and other staff.
  • No more than 2 vehicles shall be permitted on the site at a time. Vehicle cuing may be required.
  • Residents shall not exit their vehicle until at the unloading area.
  • Waste site attendants will not be assisting with unloading waste.
  • The following items will be accepted:
    • A maximum of 3 bags of garbage per household/vehicle.
    • Recyclable items.
    • Bulky waste. A $10.00 surcharge will apply. Exact change only.
    • Brush and yard waste.


Spring Leaf, Brush and Yard Clean-up Information:

The Town’s Public Works department will be performing the annual spring cleanup of leaves, brush and yard (garden) waste. Please note that this service is intended for general yard clean-up only and does not apply to tree removal. Material that is outside of the general service area will not be picked up. COVID-19 Precautions: Please be patient with Town staff as the collection may take longer due to social distancing. Please do not approach Town staff during the collection.

 

Monday, May 4th

All areas East of Centre Street from Highway 401 to County Road 8 at

the golf course hill.

Wednesday, May 6th

All areas West of Centre Street from Highway 401 to County Road 8 at the golf course hill.

Monday, May 11th

Rural area residents MUST call 613-354-5931 ext. 2160 prior to May 10th to arrange for pick-up.

 

  • Place all materials specified above at the curb no later than 7:00 am. on your collection day.
  • Ensure leaves are bagged using paper bags.
  • Tree limbs and brush are to be tied in bundles no longer than 5 feet in length.
  • Paper bags and brush left along the street after the above noted dates will not be picked up.
  • Our Waste Disposal Sites accept yard waste year-round. If residents miss their pick-up date, they can dispose of the yard waste at one of the Town’s Waste Disposal Sites.
