Public Notice: November 28th Regular Session of Council

Posted on Thursday November 16, 2023

At the November 14th meeting, Council heard several deputations regarding different proposed energy projects in the community. These are issues that many residents feel very passionate about, and we appreciate the number of people who came out to participate in the meeting. Due to time constraints from the high volume of presentations and a desire to reflect on the information that was brought forward, Council deferred a decision on the four proposals to the next regular meeting on November 28th.

In accordance with Section 15.17 of the Town’s meeting procedure by-law, Council has determined that no further verbal deputations will be received on these topics prior to the vote on November 28th. Anyone wishing to submit further written correspondence to Council may do so by emailing prior to 12:00 p.m. noon on November 21st (in order to be published with the main agenda and reviewed by Council prior to the meeting) or 12:00 p.m. noon on November 28th (in order to be published as a late addition as part of the public record). Correspondence may also be delivered in person to the Town of Greater Napanee office at 99-A Advance Avenue to the attention of the Clerk, Jessica Walters.

This decision was made in an effort to balance the ability of members of the public to provide input and comments on these pending decisions and Council’s ability to have sufficient time to debate the issue themselves. Council cannot defer this decision again past the November 28th meeting and wishes to ensure that there is enough time for a thorough discussion of the issues at hand.

Those planning to attend future Council meetings are reminded that there is only seating capacity for 25 people, and seating is reserved for those that are scheduled to speak. Otherwise, seating is available on a first come, first served basis. All open meetings of Council are available to watch live on the Town of Greater Napanee YouTube channel.
